Pete Oswald
As a seasoned professional in the animation industry, Pete Oswald’s credits include traditional animation, CG and stop motion. Pete’s work as an illustrator and designer includes Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Madagascar 2, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, ParaNorman, and Hotel Transylvania.
I really love the textures in his work and how everything is sort of exaggerated to create this sort of wacky, fun world - even his observational paintings are kind of wacky!

Magazine article with illustration:
Brummel

Not quite sure if the illustration here really illustrates the overall message of the article but I really like the aesthetic, the use of only black ink and the texture that it gives to the image.
Digital illustration - I like the combination of text and image in this. Could also see the plants being used as a pattern for something else.

Study Task 5: Vector based illustration
The most important plus point of vector images is their power of scalability, this is why it covers such a huge range of things. Illustrations that are vector based can be used in and transferred onto other promotion, packaging, publishing etc because vector images remain smooth when scaled up and down. Below are examples of vector based illustrations that are used for different things:
Promotion:
Owen Davey - Benecol advert
Andrew Kolb - Billboard illustration
Stanley Chow
Character:
Blok Magnaye
Sequential:
Zara Picken - A narrative illustration featuring Mary Poppins using the London transport network until she can find a replacement umbrella.
Publishing:
Karoline Pietrowski
Stanley Chow
Malika Favre
Joey Chou
Aldo Crusher
Editorial:
Blok Magnaye
Packaging:
Adrian Johnson - National Trust Confectionery
Vicki Turner - RNLI Confectionery range
Ben Kirchner - Ted Baker
