It's been a while since I sent the studio my promo pack, so I thought I would catch up with an email (I also attached my cv and mini portfolio)! I specifically sent it to the founders, instead of the studio's general enquiries email, to make sure that they would see and read it! Hope they reply back, I really want them too! they sound perfect. and Dylan's been to Pixar - would be SO good if I could talk to him about this. BE MY MENTOR PLS. sobs.

DISNEY HIRE ME
Guess who's just seen Zootopia (or 'Zootropolis' here in the UK)? That's right y'all. ME!
After hearing a lot of good reviews from people in the US, as it was released way earlier there, I expected so much from the movie and it did NOT disappoint! Like hot damn! Disney is really moving forward with their storylines! I won't spoil too much (cos y'all should get your butts to the cinema right now and watch it for yourselves) but I do think it reflects some of the issues we have going on in this world right now and I truly respect the directors for putting this into perspective. The underlying messages in it and the way they delivered such big themes and real life issues in a clever, creative and subtle way.. it was truly magnificent to watch.
If the opportunity presents itself to me, I would not hesitate to be part of something like this one day. Imagine what Disney can do if they continued making movies like this.. people could learn from it and truly 'make the world a better place' as Judy says, and that's all I ever want really - so Disney, hear me out for just a sec:-
I'm impressed. I'm ready. Hire me. Let's make more movies as spectacular as this.

YCN Annual
My YCN annual with my work featured in it came! but I haven't seen it yet because they sent it to my address in Bristol, and I told my parents not to open it because I want to open it myself ahaha! Should've asked Helen to send it to Leeds to be honest, oh well. I'll just have to wait til June!

Updating Promo Pack
I'm going to try and do a little bit of networking with Disney and Nickelodeon as they are going to be at MEFCC, which I am SO EXCITED about! They're companies I really want to impress/be employed by, so I'm going to prepare some promo packs + samples of work to take with me to give to them! Since I've used this particular illustration for my banner, I thought it would be a good idea to update all my other promo stuff to match this - so they are all consistent in design and colour palette.
should all be printed by Monday morning!
How my business cards will work from now on:
The Malala Fund shared my work!
AAAAHHH!
my mother said she's proud of me!
I feel blessed.
ps. Disney, give me a job already - people want this!

Part 1 - Personal work:
Paper artist - started 2D and then 3D installation work. Based in Wakefield.
Did foundation at Leeds College of Art - thats when he started experimenting with paper cut stencils - he was 19 at the time.
The went on to do Illustration Animation at Manchester met - where he started moving on from 2D to 3D by layering up his paper cuts
Post graduation:
work got featured
went traveling in 2008
got a Studio space in 2010 (westgate studios - run by neon artist richard wheater)
started working with richard sweeny - also works with paper and large scale installation.
got frustrated working at small scale - then started working at large scale - all hand cut.
work inspired by space and nebula - tried to capture the energy.
got commissioned by manchester gallery. started experimenting with putting different bits of paper cut pieces together and manipulating them.
self initiated and curated exhibition titled 'Nude Not Naked' in Brooklyn New York - used kickstarter to raise money - £6/7000. - if you want to do something, there's no excuse for you not to - just make it happen!
Part 2 - Commercial Work:
started getting really good and confident working with paper to work commercially.
first job was a christmas themed shop window installation
2011 - liberty installation - his paper birds were well received so got commissioned to make more birds.
process - start with a rough model in white - pick out bits that work well and replicate on better stock.
started to learn how to professionally photograph his own work.
gets most his jobs from the internet but he's recently got an agent in London and started doing more illustration/commercial work. It was hard to get jobs at the start, but once people started recognising him and his work, it's become a lot easier - stay persistent and don't give up!
Harrords commercial work - window shop installation - animal themed
Playstation - london landscape
Burberry shop window installation.
With commercial work, you've got to be ready to work with really tight time scale.
Current work -
Paper animals.

REALLY COOL WORK OVERALL! I LOVE HIS COMMERCIAL STUFF! I'M INSPIRED!
Really glad I came along to his talk! I feel like making work in paper all the time now because Andy's shown that you can do that! This is why I want to do a pop-up book for my FMP because it'll allow me to develop my paper cutting skill - and move on to something a bit more 3D.

More Zines
Printed some more of my Game On zines to sell at MEFCC! I'm thinking to price this at 15 AED to begin with (which is around £2.87), if not selling too well I might bring it down a bit. I really want to make a 'guys' version of this and sell that too, because its soooo cheap to produce! I think I might actually do this, as a 'break' in between uni work. or can I make this part of my extended practice brief? hmmm. We'll see..
